Never Give Up

Biology says that after sexual intercourse, about 200 to 300 million sperms are deposited by d man, they all begin to swim upwards within the tract to meet with the ovum. Of the over 200 million that are deposited, only 300 to 500 actually reach the site( others get tired on the way because it is not a small race). And of the 300 that manage to reach the ovum(egg), only one fertilizes the egg, and in this case the Winning One was YOU. Have u ever thought about this? You ran a race without your eyes and you won, you ran without education and you won, you ran without a certificate and you won, you ran without help…..and you won. What makes you think you will lose now? Now that you have both eyes and legs, now that you have the knowledge of God’s word, now that you have a plan, a dream and a vision. Beloved, you didnt give up on day one, you can’t give up now, giving up now is an insult to your creator. It doesn’t matter what you see now, take it as a challenge, always remember that you WON from the womb. Always be Grateful to God no matter what. Better days ahead…. You’ll all smile soon, let’s keep hope alive.*

Wherever you look in this great country, Nigeria, heroes abound both now and in our recent and ancient past.

Do not listen to any leader who says Nigerians are criminals, no matter who he is, or his height and position.

We’re not a nation of scammers, drugs & corruption, but a people with a verifiable track record of greatness.

==========
Here is what CNN, BBC, Aljezeera and western media will not tell you about Nigerians:

13 Facts About Friday The 13th (the unluckiest day in the calendar)

Friday the 13th is considered to be the unluckiest day in the Gregorian calendar. Beware superstitious friends: It’s Friday the 13th again! Here are 13 facts about this day of ill-repute.

1. Fear of the day is likely rooted in Christianity.
Jesus was crucified on a Friday and ever since the day has been associated with “general ill omen,” Michael Bailey, a history professor at Iowa State University who specializes in the origins of superstitions, told USA TODAY Network. Weddings in the Middle Ages, for instance, were not held on Fridays and it was not a day someone would start a journey, Bailey said.
Thirteen guests are believed to have attended the Last Supper, the night before Jesus was killed, according to Stuart Vyse, a psychology professor at Connecticut College. And Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, is considered to have been the 13th guest, Vyse said.
The superstition’s origins are mysterious.

2. It’s unclear when Friday and number 13 became linked in the way we think of them today, according to Vyse and Bailey. There are no mentions of Friday the 13th before the 19th century.

3. You’re not more likely to make a trip to the hospital.
A 2011 German study published in the World Journal of Surgery explored whether there is a link between Friday the 13th and an increase of blood loss and the frequency of emergency room visits on those days.
Researchers reviewed 3,281 days at a hospital facility that included 15 Friday the 13ths. They found no correlation.
“Our data indicate that such beliefs are myths far beyond reality,” the study concludes.

4. It’s Unclear Why it is Feared
Very little is known about the origins of the day’s notoriety. Some historians believe that the superstitions surrounding it arose in the late 19th century. The first documented mention of the day can be found in a biography of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, who died on a Friday 13th. A 1907 book, Friday the Thirteenth, by American businessman Thomas Lawson, may have further perpetuated the superstition.
All about Friday
Another account suggests that the day has been associated with misfortune since 1307, when on a Friday the 13th, the French king gave the orders to arrest hundreds of Knights Templar.

5. Yet, the Fear is Very Real…
So real that one scientific name wasn’t enough. The fear of Friday the 13th is also called friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia. Now say that 10 times really fast!
Friggatriskaidekaphobia comes from Frigg, the Norse goddess of wisdom after whom Friday is named, and the Greek words triskaideka, meaning 13, and phobia, meaning fear. Paraskevidekatriaphobia is also derived from Greek: paraskeví translates as Friday, and dekatria is another way of saying 13.

6.And Very Common!
Experts say that friggatriskaidekaphobia affects millions of people and estimate that businesses, especially airlines suffer from severe losses on Friday the 13th.
Triskaidekaphobia, or the fear of the number 13, is even more widespread. So much so that many high-rise buildings, hotels, and hospitals skip the 13th floor and many airports do not have gates numbered 13. In many parts of the world, having 13 people at the dinner table is considered bad luck.

7. Friday the 13th Can Come in Threes
A bit of bad news for all of you who suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia – all years will have at least one Friday the 13th. The good news is that there cannot be more than three Friday the 13ths in any given calendar year. The longest one can go without seeing a Friday the 13th is 14 months.
When is the next Friday the 13th?

8. Blame Sunday
For a month to have a Friday the 13th, the month must begin on a Sunday. Don’t believe us? Check out our Calendars and test it for yourself.

9. Friday the 13th Patterns Repeat in the Calendar
There is a calendrical method to the madness of Friday the 13th. Whenever a common year begins on a Thursday, the months of February, March, and November will have a Friday the 13th. This will happen 11 times in the 21st century.
The February-March-November pattern repeats in a 28-year cycle. In the 21st century, the cycle began in 2009. In 2015, 6 years later, Friday the 13th occurred in February, March, and November. This won’t happen for 11 more years until 2026 and we’ll have to wait again for 11 years until 2037 to see the February, March, and November trilogy.
This pattern will repeat itself starting 2043, 6 years after 2037.

10. Even During Leap Years
Three Friday the 13ths can occur in a leap year as well. If January 1 of a leap year falls on a Sunday, the months of January, April, and July will each have a Friday the 13th.
In the 20th century, this happened in 1928, 1956, and 1984. And in the 21st century this will happen four times in 2012, 2040, 2068, and 2096. Notice something interesting? Yes, it is the 28-year cycle again!

11. Fittingly, Alfred Hitchcock Was Born on the 13th
The master of suspense was born on August 13, 1899 – so Friday, August 13, 1999 would have been his 100th birthday. He made his directorial debut in 1922 with a movie called Number 13. Unfortunately, the film was doomed from the start and never got off the ground due to financial troubles.
Other celebrities and well-known personalities born on a Friday the 13th include actors Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen; novelist and playwright, Samuel Beckett; and former President of Cuba, Fidel Castro.

12. It’s an Unlucky Day Only For Some
Friday the 13th is not universally seen as a day of misery. For example, in Italy, Friday the 17th and not Friday the 13th is considered to be a day that brings bad luck. In fact, the number 13 is thought to be a lucky number!
In many Spanish speaking countries and in Greece, Tuesday the 13th is seen as a day of misfortune.

13. And Research Suggests That It May Not Be Unlucky After All
There is very little evidence to show that Friday the 13th is indeed an unlucky day. Many studies have shown that Friday the 13th has little or no effect on events like accidents, hospital visits, and natural disasters.

BONUS FACTS ABOUT FRIDAY THE 13TH
The Day Inspired One of the Highest Grossing Film Series
The commercially successful Friday the 13th enterprise includes 12 horror movies, a television series, and several books that focus on curses and superstitions. Even though the films and the television series consistently received negative reviews from critics, they have a huge following. The mask worn by the key character in the films, Jason Voorhees, is one of the most known images in popular culture.

And a Country to Raise Safety and Accident Awareness
Since 1995, Finland has dedicated one Friday the 13th in a year to observe National Accident Day. The day aims to raise awareness about safety – on the roads, at home, and at the workplace.

An Asteroid Will Safely Fly By the Earth in 2029
On a Friday the 13th! Friday, April the 13th, 2029 to be exact. When 99942 Apophis was discovered in 2004, it was thought to have a small chance of colliding with Earth. But you can rest easy because since then, scientists have revised their findings which show that there is absolutely no risk of the asteroid impacting the Earth or the Moon.

13 is Taylor Swift’s lucky number.
“I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro,” the singer told MTV in a 2009 interview.
The performer was even sued in 2014 by the clothing brand Lucky 13 for selling T-shirts on her online store with the phrase “Lucky 13” on them.

Gunman ‘dressed as Santa’ kills 39, including 16 foreigners in Istanbul

A gunman reportedly dressed in a Santa costume killed at least 39 people, including 16 foreigners, at a famous nightclub in Istanbul during New Year’s Eve celebrations, The Telegraph reports.
According to the report, the attacker who was armed with a long-barrelled weapon, shot a police officer before storming the elite Reina club in the Ortakoy area of the city at about 1.45am local time (22:30 GMT).
However, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has disclosed that the gunman was still at large.
He said: “The search for the terrorist continues… Our security forces have started the necessary operations. God willing he will be caught in a short period of time.”

Gunman ‘dressed as Santa’ kills 39 in Istanbul

Raising the death toll to 39, Soylu said that of 21 victims who had been identified so far, 16 were foreigners and five were Turks.

“Another 69 people were being treated in hospital for their wounds,” the minister added.
It was gathered that there were as many as 700 people in the club at the time of the attack, some of whom have jumped into the water to escape.

Survivors in shock

Many threw themselves into the Bosphorus in panic after the attack and efforts were underway to rescue them from the waters.
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the attacker was still unknown and some reports suggested there were multiple attackers.

Some witnesses claimed the attackers were speaking Arabic, while surveillance footage appeared to show the gunman spraying bullets outside the club before entering.
Another CCTV image is believed to show the attacker changing his jacket as he walks around inside the club.
US President Barack Obama, who is on holiday in Hawaii, was among the first international leaders to make a statement after being briefed by his team.
“The president expressed condolences for the innocent lives lost, directed his team to offer appropriate assistance to the Turkish authorities, as necessary, and keep him updated as warranted,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz said in a statement.
The Turkish government has ordered a temporary media blackout in the wake of the attack, citing security and public order concerns.
This is not the first time such a terror attack would be carried out in Turkey as many have been carried out by so-called Islamic State (IS) or Kurdish militants.
The most recent being twin bomb attack outside a football stadium in Istanbul on December 10, which killed 44 people. Kurdish militant group claims responsibility.
In June, a gun and bomb attack on Ataturk airport in Istanbul killed at least 41 people, in an attack blamed on IS militants
