The end of Kanye and Jay Z’s friendship has finally arrived

After 16 years of fireworks, it appears the friendship between Jay Z and Kanye West has finally fizzled out.

Beyonce and Jay Z watch on as Kanye makes a point at an event
One of the hardest things to find in an egoistic scene like hip hop in America is a long-lasting friendship between two hugely successful personalities.

No, not the kind Rick Ross and DJ Khaled share, that’s still young compared to the bond between the likes of Eminem and Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Missy Elliott (yes, not Justin Timberlake), and even the rap group Wu-Tang Clan who have a successful clothing line and dropped an album back in 2014.

Now, remember when we said the relationship between Kanye West and his mentor, idol and adopted brother, Jay Z was at its dusk? Well, it is night time regards that now.

Kanye’s most recent rant about the music business, politics, Beyonce and Jay Z is proof that the former friends are now anything but. Even though they made a show of being cool with each other at award shows and at the launch of Jay Z’s streaming service TIDAL, the grapevine had reported that they were not as close as they used to be.

When Yeezy got married to reality star Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and his wife Beyonce were conspicuously absent. It led to talks of Beyonce not being a great fan of Kim’s and would rather be aloof. Kanye confirmed that last month when he interrupted a show to talk about how his and Jay Z’s daughter had never had a play date before, accusing Jigga of only calling him on the phone in the aftermath of Kim’s Paris robbery.

But his most recent rant was more bizzare and shocking than before. He spoke about how Beyonce told MTV she wouldn’t perform at the VMAs except she won at his expense. He went on to address Jay Z: ‘I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head…’
Jay Z and Kanye have always had a curious, complex relationship. Coming up as a nerdy producer from Chicago, Kanye was eager to earn Jay Z’s love and respect. The moment he got the opportunity to make beats for Jay, Kanye showed was he was worth and eventually got his own shot at the big leagues. He didn’t disappoint: his career has been glittering and deserving of the accolades he has received so far. His impact on Jay Z’s career has almost been equal to Jay Z’s on his.

‘I was always on the other side of the peephole
Then I dropped ‘Jesus Walks’ now I’m on the steeple
And we know, ‘New Jack City’ got to keep my brother
But to be number one I’mma beat my brother- Kanye West on Big Brother’

However, it seems as though the two ‘brothers’ are now headed in different directions. While Jay Z has never hidden his interest in corporate collaborations, in the last three or so years, Kanye has veered off that path, often speaking of his distaste for the ‘politics’ in the music industry.

Kanye may have started out as a Jay Z underling, but he knew he was destined to be more. His debut album went triple platinum and a star was born. He soon went from being Jay Z’s protege to being a friend, an equal and – when records are sold – a competitor.

On the other hand, Jay Z is not reputed for being okay with having an equal. Since his own career took off in 1996, he has always been the biggest personality on any label and the dominant partner of any friendship. All of his other proteges – Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel – have never come close to being on the same level with him. Only Kanye has broken that barrier.

In the last five years though, Kanye’s rants have intensified, while Jay Z has focused more on business endeavours. Jay has never directly spoken of his dislike for Kanye’s antics: he has shown it by being distant. While Kanye’s need for audience and attention has met its match by him marrying into the overly exposed Kardashian family, Jay Z is more reclusive and determinedly private about his and Beyonce’s life. Even when his marital troubles were made public via the infamous elevator incident with his sister-in-law Solange last year and Lemonade this year, he remained stoic till it became stale news.

Now that Kanye has publicly called out his wife the way he did last night, it’s not likely to make Jay Z stretch out his hand and offer Kanye an olive branch. His former protege has crossed over to the realm of people Jay Z has no qualms about dissociating from. Dame Dash, with whom he built the Roc-A-Fella dynasty, became a stranger who he didn’t see or talk to for 10 years (Kanye would know how that feels: he admittedly chose sides between them and followed Jay Z instead of Dame Dash who actually signed him to Roc-A-Fella). That phone call he was begging Jay Z for will never come. He knows that and that’s why he spoke about it publicly.

It is not known now how long this impasse will last or how both men’s careers will end up looking like. What is certain is that as it typically is when two people are no longer in the same creative sphere of existence, no creative work can get done. After 16 years of fireworks, it appears the friendship between Jay Z and Kanye West has finally fizzled out.

President’s daughter set to say I do to billionaire’s son

– Zahra Buhari is the daughter of the current president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari

– The young lady who is  graduate of medical microbiology from the University of Surrey in England is set to marry

– The young Fulani bride is set to marry billionaire’s son, Ahmed Indimi

Ahmed Indimi and Zahra Buhari

Zahra Buhari is one of the daughters of President Buhari. The young lady is a graduate of micro biology from the University of Surrey in England. Born and buttered with privilege, she is the ambassador for the SCAF, a foundation set on the initiative to arrest and minimize the case of sickle cell around the nation. Not only is Zahra beautiful, she is blessed with brains and as a well brought up Muslim woman, she is an inspiration to many young girls.

As if power were not enough, Zahra is set to be married to billionaire’s son in a low-key wedding in a few days. The wedding which is looking to be the talk of the town is desirous by the president to be a simple, intimate ceremony attended only by close family and friends. Following his modest and prudent lifestyle, the president who is known for frowning against wasteful lavishness is putting his money where his mouth is and making the special day of his daughter a low-key celebration of love.

Many might think the foundation of the union is built on connection, money and power due to the two powerful families involved but Zahra has shown herself to be a woman who follows her heart.
Recently, there were rumours of the Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari desire to marry the first daughter but that went down the drain as the young lady came out to say she is not marrying the governor even when a lot of money was involved.
According to Abuja reporters, she will be joined with her beau Ahmed Indimi, the son of wealthy billionaire, Mohammed Indimi on 2nd day of December, 2016.
Ahmed Indimi is the marketing director of Oriental Energy Resources and is said to be worth a fortune just like his billionaire father.
Wedding bells are ringing. We wish the couple a blissful union and a happy marriage.

How to make millions in this recession in Nigeria

Nigerian athletes have the chance of winning a whooping $50,000 (about N23.2 million) at the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, NAIJ.com reports.

Abraham Kipton from Kenya won the first edition held in February while Philip Sharubutu emerged as the first Nigerian to breast the tape.

Kipton ran 2 hours, 16 minutes and 19 seconds while second placed Hossei, also from Kenya, ran 2 hours, 16 minutes and 34 seconds. Ethiopia’s Debebe Ethosa came in third, running 2 hours, 16 minutes and 40 seconds.

The organisers of the event which made its debut early this year have informed that although the top 60 elite athletes from the world have been invited to participate in the marathon and 200 Nigerian elites enlisted, it is open to any Nigerian who is capable of winning the over 42 kilometers race.

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who addressed journalists on Sunday, November 21, to announce preparations for next year’s competition, stated categorically that the next edition will be taken a notch up from what was obtainable in the pilot edition.

“The Lagos City Marathon is presently ranked 68th in the world, but our desire is to make it the top ten in the world and that is what we are working on with the next episode of the event.

“Unlike the one held on February 6 this year, where we had over 30,000 athletes who participated, we are targeting a minimum of 50,000 runners who will take the city of Lagos by storm and put the city on the world map for coming up with such a huge event,” Governor Ambode said.

The governor also informed that Sharubutu who was the Nigerian winner at the last edition, placed 10th during a 50km race in Doha, Qatar while Sarah Oluwaseun, one of the Nigerians who finished the race last year, was invited to an international tournament.

“The aim is to get the IAAF label for the race and make it the top ten on the world marathon races so that whenever we make the call for registration, people will be more than eager to come to Lagos,” the governor added.
The Lagos state governor also hinted that the organisation of this competition on a regular basis will also show the whole world that Lagos state and Nigeria by extension, is safe and free for anyone who intends to come visiting or for other purposes.
Winner of this year’s tournament will go home with a cash prize of $50,000, while second and third place winners will smile home with $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.

The first Nigerian to breast the tape will also get a whopping reward of N1 million just as the second and third most successful locals will take home N750,000 and N500,000 individually.

As an indication of his desire to show the full support of the state government, Governor Ambode filled the form as the first participant of the tournament while Herbert Wigwe, the managing director of Access Bank, the major sponsor of the event.

The sexagenarian, Abiola Oshodi-Adeniyibada who finished the Lagos City Marathon race The sexagenarian praised all the sponsors of the event when she spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria.

When interviewed at the Teslim Balogun Stadium starting point of the race she said her aim was to reach the finishing point as she noted that her aim was not to win the prize money.
